All the information you post about yourself on TipIt is owned by you, and you can control how that information is shared. By sharing content that has intellectual property rights (e.g. photos and videos), you automatically give us the right to use this content until such time that you delete your account or the content itself.
When photos and videos are deleted, the process is similar to deleting files on your PC or laptop. Information may still be available in back up format, although this will not be made available to other users. Any content that is shared publicly means that you are allowing anyone (not just friends and family or selected groups) to access your data and link it to you.

TipIt is a public forum, which means that any information you share is made public. You can choose to share some information within your select groups or zones, but your public profile (name, photograph and short bio based on key interests) will be made public to everyone.

There is some information that we collect from you which is required to confirm who you are- for example, we will send an activation code to your mobile device to set up your account. This information is then used for the future security of your account to confirm your identity, so it is essential that you notify us of any change of phone number. If you provide us with your phone number, you are agreeing to receive text messages from TipIt, but this information will not be displayed publicly unless you choose to make it so. If you choose to link your TipIt account to any other social media page, like Facebook or Twitter, we reserve the right to use your public profile information on those accounts.
We may use your contact details to send you updates on our services, to prevent fraud, or to notify you of any special offers. You may choose to be unsubscribed from marketing services by following the links provided in our emails, but any communications that are essential for the security of your account and to advise you of any important updates are not possible to opt out of.
If you send us any emails we may keep these for future reference so we can help you with any account issues. You can choose to give TipIt access to your phone book, or opt out of this if you prefer not to.
In order to give our users the best experience, we may conduct analysis on your account based on the links you click on and the services you express interest in. We are not responsible for the conduct of any other companies whose websites are linked to or from our site, and any activity relating to a third party us subject to their own rules and regulations.
When you use TipIt, we may from time to time collect information such as your IP address, type of browser and operating system so we can understand your needs and requirements and provide you with the best service possible.
Once you’re set up, you’ll have the power to edit your personal information as and when you wish, so it’s easy to keep your details up to date.
If you choose to delete your TipIt account for any reason, all you’ll need to do is follow a few simple instructions. It will be possible to reopen your account if you wish to do so within 30 days, after that period you’ll need to set up a completely new account.
We reserve the right to disclose any information that is necessary to comply with the law or to protect the safety of any individual or group. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any legal defences or objections that you may have to a third party’s (including government or legal body) request to disclose your details, but may be used to address fraud, safety or security issues.
Should TipIt be involved in a merger, bankruptcy, acquisition, major reorganisation or sale of assets, your information may be sold as part of the process. In this case, this policy will apply to the new entity.
You must be 13 years old to use TipIt. We do not knowingly collect personal data relating to children aged under 13, and if we become aware of any underage users, we reserve the right to terminate the account with immediate effect.
